Publication of Johann Büssow named a Choice Outstanding Academic Title of 2025

The award-winning book "Late Ottoman Gaza" by CRC Principal Investigator Johann Büssow and Yuval Ben-Bassat is recognised for its outstanding contribution to the study of the late Ottoman Eastern Mediterranean.

We are pleased to announce that the book Late Ottoman Gaza: An Eastern Mediterranean Hub in Transformation, co-authored by Prof. Johann Büssow, Principal Investigator in subproject A01 in our CRC, and Prof. Yuval Ben-Bassat (University of Haifa), has been awarded a Choice Outstanding Academic Title 2025 by Cambridge University Press.

The Choice Outstanding Academic Title award recognises publications of exceptional scholarly quality and significance. The book offers an innovative and richly documented study of Gaza as a dynamic centre of social, economic, and political transformation in the late Ottoman period.

We warmly congratulate Johann Büssow on this distinguished achievement.
