Exchange and New Perspectives: CRC 1475 Strengthens Collaboration with the Cluster of Excellence “Cross-Cultural Philology”
As part of the event, Beate Kellner, Professor of Medieval German Literature at LMU Munich and Speaker of the Cluster of Excellence, presented the cluster’s research approaches and objectives. The cluster investigates philological practices and cultural dynamics across a period of 5,000 years, aiming to rethink the history of scholarship from a cross-cultural perspective.
Using the biblical story of Cain and Abel as an example, the presentation illustrated how texts are received, transformed, and reinterpreted across different historical periods and cultural contexts. This case highlighted the potential of cross-cultural research approaches for examining religious traditions and their interpretations.
Beyond providing new scholarly perspectives, the event offered an opportunity to strengthen the existing collaboration between the two research initiatives and develop concrete ideas for putting it into practice. The exchange thus laid the groundwork for deepening shared research interests and exploring future avenues for cooperation.
