Framing Religious Metaphor: More Ideas for Frame-semantic Annotation

GB 5/150–152 “Ruhrpott”

In recent years, various approaches have emerged that aim at combining frame-semantic approaches with Conceptual Metaphor Theory. Both have in common that thy break down the semantics of source and target domain into smaller pieces (metaphorically speaking), which are called frame elements in frame semantics. The selective mapping from aspects of the source domain to aspects of the target domain that is at the heart of Conceptual Metaphor Theory can be modelled in terms of frame elements from a frame-semantic point of view. In this session, we discuss how we could fruitfully apply such approaches for metaphor annotation in the CRC.
